The style is amazing and while it may take a little while to get started, it is well worth the effort. There are some boring spots, but there are easily tolerated. There is an undercurrent of fate and striving that eactly fits the magnitude of the problem, and the book is riddled with hints of something older and more powerful, giving it an even bigger sense of the issue's importance. Imagery abounds and possibly most of all is the wonderful use of language. The world created is captivating and magical while still strangely familiar. The movie is great, but the book is fantastic. A must read....
