Description: I thought this was a very satisfactory ending to the trilogy. At the ending of book two II thought this was a very satisfactory ending to the trilogy. At the ending of book two I was worried about how much was left to be done and whether it would seem either rushed or all too easy. But Hearn wrapped things up nicely with a mix of triumph and tragedy. What I liked the most was the way she laid groundwork for the future beyond the trilogy without giving the impression she was just setting up sequels. It made the world feel very lived in....

Description: I was attracted by the premise of the book which promised to combine a sort of alternate historyI was attracted by the premise of the book which promised to combine a sort of alternate history with a Victorian-era mystery and strange unexplained fantasy going-ons. However, the book itself never quite hooked me. The distinctive narration style felt a bit ostentatious and the characters were set pieces that yet never quite did enough of interest. Not horrible, but I wouldn't recommend it....
