The Silver Stone
Using a mixture of Irish and Norse mythology, this series (Keepers of the Hidden Ways) creates a rich fantasy setting filled with fairly diverse characters. Joel Rosenburg always strikes me as a gifted writer, and this series does not disappoint. Following The Fire Duke, this takes off right where it left off, but is well written enough that you could start here (not recommended though).
