Vic Wilcox is the managing director of a large engineering firm. He is a self-made man whose life centers around his factory. He thinks that university studies are for ivory tower elitists, if he thinks about it at all. When Robyn Penrose, a temporary lecturer at the local university is assigned to be his shadow in a town/gown attempt, he is irritated and skeptical. This annoyance is even greater when he discovers the shadow to be a women and a feminist. For her part, Robyn is equally irritated that her shaky position at the university doesn't allow her to say no to this shadow scheme. Neither believes any good can come of it, but the consequences are unexpected for both.
