The Road
Vastly overrated. Not a bad novel, I suppose, but certainly not a masterpiece. The poetic style of McCarthy's prose is evocative; however, where he's strong on setting the mood for parable, his main character is slight and the prose style is distracting when the reader is left incredulous that the characters never think in terms of names, or recall much of anything about their past, but the author's busting out the thesaurus to make artsy sentence fragments.
