Ilium

Homer's Illiad is a story that has been with us throughout most of humanities recorded history. With Illium, Dan Simmon's revisits Homers epic and throws our sense of understanding and knowledge out the window as he reimagines the events of the battle of Troy retold thousands of years in our future.
With characters spanning the scope of known humanity and some truly larger than life beings, not to mention autonomous self-aware humanoids, all spread over the scope of our Solar system, the resulting plot threads are wound as tight as Simmons can imagine, and very much ready to explode by the conclusion of this novel.
