Atonement : A Novel

The first 40% of this book, and the last 50% were terrific. Somewhere in that missing 10% the writing slacks off to the point where I almost put the book down because it didn't seem to be going anywhere. The last half of the book made up for any qualities the first half lacked. One of my better used-book-store buys, I would recommend it for a summer vacation read. Quick synopsis: Bright young girl destroys lives while trying to interpret events too adult for her to understand.

For a glimpse into the mind of an author, read it.
