There is a good balance in the story between the focus on the two central characters and the others from the Circle as well as the battle preparations. There is no forgetting that a once-peaceful country is going to war, but life goes on, too.
I’m not one for 50 page battle sequences, but I do think a battle with thousands on each side should take more than 10-15 pages to describe. It’s fast and anti-climatic, but I have to remember that this is ultimately a romance novel with a hero subplot.
Once again Roberts' has written a fun, fast-paced hero packed trilogy. Definitely one to recommend to any who like a good story with their romances....
