She's Come Undone
The turns this book takes seem almost unbelievable, yet this book is still highly readable. The main character, Dolores, is someone who we can alternately pity and admire, and yet, regarding the story, I am left wondering "How did that happen?" At the end, in turning over this book in my mind, a fat girl losing weight and changing her life does not seem so unbelievable -- many people have different places and chapter in their lives, so separate as seeming to belong to different people. At times I was shocked that a guy was writing this book. However, this story definately does not ring as true and is not as interesting as "I Know This Much is True."
