This book may have been marketed as chic lit, but it isn't, not really. And I don't mean that it was good, and chic lit is bad, so therefore it's not chic lit: no, there are some chic lit books that are great, but this isn't one of them. This story is just regular literature. The prose is spare and beautiful, the story universal and ageless, but also soulful and unique. I would recommend this tale to anyone who enjoys fine literature but has limited reading time or for a before-bed book when you are too tired for the twisting complexities of older books, yet want to read something real. Although the main character is female, I believe the book would be well read by gals or guys.
