I'd like to be able to say it was awful and the world has terrible taste in reading material, but actually, I rather enjoyed reading it. I didn't think it was brilliant or mindblowing or anything, but the majority of it was fun. I wouldn't take a single thing he says in there at face value, no matter how carefully researched he claims it was, and I find it a little amusing that these theories he portrays as being obviously accepted by academics in the novel are in fact not widely accepted by academics at all in real life, but hey, it made for a good conspiracy.

Good god, the characters though. They weren't just stereotypical and uninteresting, they were also stupid. ...

Description: I tried to read Ella Minnow Pea, because it was an interesting concept -- this self-governingI tried to read Ella Minnow Pea, because it was an interesting concept -- this self-governing island is named after and has a statue to Nevin Nollop, who wrote the phrase "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." And as each letter falls off the statue, they ban anyone from using that letter, or even substituting * for those letters. It sounded like a fun concept, but sadly that's all it was, because it was impossible to keep the characters straight, never mind that they were super boring and not very developed in the first place, which probably explains why I couldn't tell them apart, and while I don't mind having to occasionally look up a word if I don't know what it means, needing to look up three words on the same page is so overkill. So, I gave up on it fifty pages into it, and now have one less book on my shelf to read. ...
