From there to the end, it's one disaster after another. The imagery of bees and honey pop up throughout the book. It's interesting, but the symbolism can be a bit heavy-handed at times. The problem with this book is that everything fits together a little too easily. Among other things, the book would have been better without the completely predictable romance between the white main character and her black coworker. Not much happens between them but awkwardness, and suddenly they're in love? I don't think so.
Really, this book turned out to be a lot like honey - it's just fine in small doses. Just don't try to consume it all in one sitting. You'll make yourself sick and find yourself longing for something with more sustenance....
