Normally Handlers don't mix beyond the regular doctor to patient interaction, but Laurel and Devlin can't seem to stay apart. Unfortunately, someone is trying to kill Devlin and Laurel could get caught in the middle.
The basic story of a man on the edge and the woman who will save him isn't unusual, but the whole Paladin concept is. I was sucked in enough that I have to know what happens to the other Paladins, so I'll be looking for the next book in the series.

Hackles are raised, blood is spilled, and spells are cast. Quite a fun and exciting ride throughout. I, for one, hope there is a sequel and I'll be anxiously awaiting its arrival.

They aren't given much time to handle all of those effects, because demons are still coming after them. The demons are also trying to kill the Lu Nuncios of lupi packs around the world. Lots of lupi history and politics becomes clear, but there is still more to know to understand the whole lupi culture.
Magic has broken out around the world. Unfortunately, magic and technology don't coexist very well, so the MCD (Magical Crimes Division) of the FBI is stretched a little thin handling fires around the country.
Cynna and Cullen are right in the middle of this and this story centers around them as much as Rule and Lily. Happily, Grandmother, Li Qin, Toby and Benedict also show up in this story.
I'm really looking forward to the next installment in this series. After the first 3 books, I have no idea where Wilks will go next.
