Description: I had high expectations for this book. Being the nominal sort of Christian, very unhappy non-practicingI had high expectations for this book. Being the nominal sort of Christian, very unhappy non-practicing Roman Catholic, I really wanted to know more. I have read an awesome book called Catholics & Sex by Kate Saunders, Peter Stanford and I like to see stuff. In comparison, wow, I was so not blown away by this book. It doesn't serve my want or need in terms of exploring the roots of anti-woman, anti-lesbian stuff in the Christian church, doesn't offer the historical context I was wanting. It had a lot of personal stories, huge chunks of stories and other writings by women. If it had just stuck with that, included only tales of women feeling marginalized in the Christian faith, I think the book would have been much better....

Standard paperback size. It was entertaining to read. The emotional manipulation that totally screwed the main character over was wow. Yeah. Wow. In man, girls/women can be mean and destructive to their own kind. Not that I don't know this but yeah. Wow. Still a good read. I probably won't reread it. Teen angst of the sort that goes on feels a bit beyond me but still a good read....

And yeah, can't believe this is the same author. I only have read half the book. There are a lot of character names and I just don't feel any sense of the connection to the characters. The book was billed as another classic but meh. It is dialogue heavy and it just doesn't manage to hold my interest. It is another one of those will try to get back and finish later....

Description: I loved this book! I did, do, did! I think I will probably be rereading this one. Correction:I loved this book! I did, do, did! I think I will probably be rereading this one. Correction: I think I will be bopping off to the store with a gift certificate I found and buying the first book. I love it. I'm a huge science fiction fan. And this has just enough to make me happy. It also has a character who reads almost closely like a librarian to me. And I love library type stuff, information architechture and organization. I like strong women. Okay and bad me, I like the conclusion regarding population decline, male infertility and female empowerment. I have a lot of male friends on-line and I don't have a problem with men but given the current political climate in the United States, it is nice to read something that well... subversively like the da vinci code, could have elements of truth and explain things like why some religious zealots want to tell me what I can do with my female body. But that said, that aside, I like it!...
