This is the vision of Johann Gutenberg realized to it's best end, access to the best bits of literature for less than a value meal at McDonald's. Walden is one of my favorites; this is a wonderful conception of someone who feels that he doesn't belong in the world as it exists and does what he wants in order to change his relationship to it. Very inspiring.

This is one of the reasons I believe he will be venerated as one of the greatest American authors in the future. The Stand, as a tale of dark Christianity, is a fabulous meditation on that question all of us misanthropic kids asked when we were fantisizing about the jocks dying off and leaving us the cheerleaders: What if this world as we know it ended?

Read it to believe it, Rollins' music is something to behold. His writing is something completely different and will grab the edges of your mind and thought. He makes you through his words confront thoughts and ideas that few of us actually choose to think about. I think that it's a good thing!

I began this during one summer break in college, and I had to put it down after each chapter, and try to absorb what I had read. Siddhartha is considered by some the life of the Buddha; I would consider it an allegory for anyone who seeks to find some meaning in the struggle of life.

He uses time tested, long standing Buddhist principles to discuss how to reach a place many in a sped up, overwrought society are trying to reach: mindfulness.
