Again, Pierce stuns her readers with a well-written and extremely well thought out series, with many characters that the reader comes to know and love. Recommended for young adult readers, and everyone else!

Chock full of fantastical creatures, magic and very interesting characters, this is a wonderful series that is very re-readable. These books were intended for young adult readers -- the writing is a bit simple, but Pierce is a very talented writer with a knack for beautiful descriptions and interesting dialogue.

He is almost immediately flung into a whirlwind of events that make him one of the most legendary -- and sought after -- person of his time. Pursued by the evil King Galbatorix, he must run for his life to save not only himself, but the entire kingdom.

All-in-all, this is a good first novel, but is nothing remarkable. The storyline is decent, while somewhat cliched, and the characters are three-dimensional enough to get the reader interested.

There are blatant Tolkien and McCaffrey undertones, however, which make this book a bit fantasy cookie-cutterish, but it does hold it's own among more modern fantasy such as Harry Potter.

To make a long story short, I'd recommend this book to young adults, or if you're just looking for a decent fantasy read that isn't too in-depth.
