Although the first half of the book was developed on the subject of why agriculture and herding was sparked in some areas, not others, and I found this a bit on the dry side, it established the foundation for a more in-depth look at more complex topics. It seemed that all the other items of conquest can be traced back to this agricultural beginning. The latter part of the book much more fulfilled the premise of the title of the book.
