What gets me are the conversations, the paranoid daydreams, and the trippy group tangents that have to be "broken" by a third party or sane bystander lest the individual or group follow them over the ragged edge. Fifth star withheld so far because it's almost *too* gritty. I like him better when he fragments reality and leaves his protagonists' minds (mostly) intact. ****...
