Description: Required reading. I picked this up during a stay in Guatemala, and saw a fair number of backpackersRequired reading. I picked this up during a stay in Guatemala, and saw a fair number of backpackers working on it -- it's really the gringo's introduction to Guatemala. The book is a detailed history but reads like a narrative, of the author's search for that history. The narrative gets confusing at times but stick with it. The book is powerful on so many different levels, and I've never read anything like it. Wow....
