This book takes the end of poverty and makes it real, makes it a possibility. Sachs delves into economic history a long way back and proposes that we are at a point in that history where if we want to do something to end certain kinds of suffering, we can. And then he tells us how. So it's up to us. Got it? Got it....

Description: Required reading. The story of Dr. Paul Farmer who I had not heard of before but who is nowRequired reading. The story of Dr. Paul Farmer who I had not heard of before but who is now among my heros. A Harvard-educated MD, he established a clinic in Haiti before his residence was over, because he couldn't wait to start changing things for the better. He founded the non-profit Partners in Health, which now works around the world providing care to people as well as lobbying for issues where others had given up. Particularly inspiring is the horror of knowing the job will never be finished...but it doesn't stop him from trying. An easy read....
